How often should I service my MINI?

Your MINI is nearly as clever as we are at mad4mini! It will tell you when a service is due, and with condition-based servicing your MINI is constantly monitoring the conditions and driving styles of the car to keep your maintenance at premium levels.
This replaces the previous advice of a full service every year or every 12,000 miles, whichever elapses first. In between times, regular maintenance such as oil and filter replacement is needed, and an interim service every six months or 6,000 miles (again, whichever happens first) is also a good idea.

What should a MINI service include?

A service is clearly different from an MOT, which is more of a technical inspection of a vehicle’s safety and roadworthiness.
It will ensure your MINI is safe, while helping your car retain its value. It will spot problems before they worsen, reducing the chances of a breakdown.

 You can expect the inspection to include the following checks:

  • Engine oil change and/or oil filter replacement
  • Checking levels of coolant and hydraulic fluid
  • Checking lights, tyre, brakes, steering and exhaust – including steering alignment
  • Tuning the engine so that it’s running at peak condition
  • Suspension checks
  • Inspecting your MINI’s cooling system
  • Checking battery condition

For newer versions, your MINI cockpit should display a reminder of when your model is due its next service – don’t ignore it.

Autologic diagnostics

We use this world-class, state-of-the-art software, which is a unique diagnostic tool to replicate those used by the manufacturer’s own dealers. It means we can offer a full BMW MINI service on-site in our own workshop will full dealer-level capability and covers all models including electronic service history updates on the new F model vehicles.

It also allows us to do programming, component coding and activation, fault code reading and cleaning, as well as retrofitting genuine MINI accessories including iPod kits.
