The History of Mad4Mini

Mike Favager and Richard Heeley launched mad4mini back in 2009, having identified a gap in the market across Yorkshire for servicing, repairing and carrying out MOTS on BMW MINI models with the passion for the brand the much-loved marque deserved.

Both Richard and Mike have a highly detailed understanding of the MINI brand, and are able to draw on extensive knowledge and industry experience. At the same time, we pride ourselves on offering a highly personal service that’s tightly tailored to you and what your car needs.

Here’s a bit more about us and our professional backgrounds:

Mike Favager

With 30 years’ motor trade experience to his name, Mike combined his training at an independent franchise on the Wirral with completing a three-year City & Guilds motor vehicle qualification.

He then spent five years with a large Peugeot franchise before moving to West Yorkshire, and has also worked for Honda and run an independent car franchise in Leeds. Equally, his experience incorporates four years running a Ferrari franchise workshop which took care of Lotus and Maserati models. In 2005, Mike joined a large West Yorkshire dealership before leaving to set up mad4mini with business partner Richard.

Having completed many manufacturer training courses, Mike is a fully certified BMW/MINI service technician.

Richard Heeley

Richard has been in the motor trade since leaving school, and has a Level 3 City & Guilds qualification in motor vehicle repairs.

He spent three years as a Vauxhall technician, but has worked with the MINI brand since 2003.  Richard has completed numerous manufacturer training courses on all models, including some extensive engine management training. Richard is also Hybrid trained, having completed Autologic training on hybrid awareness and systems.

WE USE AUTOLOGIC DIAGNOSTIC

Autologic for BMW Mini is a diagnostic tool uniquely designed to replicate the functionality of the tools used by the manufacturer’s dealers. This enables mad4mini to provide comprehensive BMW Mini service in their own workshop. The world-first software enables access to full dealer-level capabilities that covers all models including electronic service history updates on the new F model vehicles, component coding and activation, fault code reading and clearing and even allows us to retrofit genuine MINI accessories such as I-pod kits.
